So what books are everyone reading? Both new and old ones.
Saga is the best book being put out, followed closely by Ms. marvel, Sex criminals, and The Wicked and the Divine. She Hulk is really fun, as is Rat Queens. I'm also really looking forward to the new batgirl run and Gotham Academy, both because thye look good and because if they do well hopefully DC will start putting out more entertaining books.

I'm severely burned out on dark and gritty. (It's been going on for how many years now? How is it "new" anymore?) We're looking at buying some old compilations but other then that are just planning to ride this out. Not much for us right now.

Do you read Marvel Adrini? Because all of their comics I'm reading could not be considered dark and gritty under any circumstances. Ms. marvel, She Hulk, Deadpool, Star Lord, Captain Marvel, New Warriors, and Superior Foes of Spider-Man are all fun light books, and those are just the ones I'm reading.

I'm considering it, actually.
I left marvel after the...fifth(??) Phoenix story line (I'm sorry, it got old). Stayed away after I saw what Scott had become (I was a huge x-men fan). Now I'm born and raised DC, but they have sups grabbing decapitated heads as a romantic favor. Soul is basically dead there.
Marvel on the other hand seems to have heroes that are...inspiring as heroic. A truly novel concept. They even have -gasp- relationships. I've been looking at reviews to find a good place to jump back in, though Scott is still an ass so likely not x-men.

Yeah i'd say it's best if you stay away from there, and also New Avengers, that's really Marvels only 'Dark and Gritty' book. Personally I'd say jump in with Ms. Marvel, it is one of the best books any publisher is putting out at the moment.

You might like the Cyclops book actually, it's about young Scott hanging out with Corsair, and it's written by Greg Rucka.

Obligatory All-New X-Factor recommendation. You can never go wrong with Peter David, especially now that he's stepped away from all that noir that was in the previous run.

That may be the first time I've heard someone say this X-Facor is better than his last one.

I certainly enjoy All-New X-Factor a lot, but I haven't read the previous run, so I can't really say what's better. I just like that PAD stepped away from the noir stuff to do straight up superhero stories. It's fun.

If your willing to go to non-Marvel/DC Lumberjanes is just a ridiculously fun all ages book about a scouting group of women getting caught up in all kinds of supernatural stuff.

So long as it's actually heroic I'm open, I just have to see what the shop has in stock. It's a small corner store and the selection isn't full.

So what was everybody's favourite announcement out of NYCC? For me it's Spider-Gwen getting an ongoing followed closely by Jeff Lemire writing Hawkeye.
The Spider-Gwen Issue of Spider-Verse was just a great issue and exploring both that character and that universe ill be a lot of fun.
As for Hawkeye well I have yet to read a bad comic by Lemire, and ok I've only read two comics by him but they were great. Plus Clint and Kate are great so while it will have a lot to live up to after the current run I have high hopes.

I was actually at NYCC so the Daredevil panel/meeting Stephen Amell was/were my favorite moment(s). As for my favorite announcement? Probably Lemire Hawkguy, followed by Spider-Gwen, so....yeah, the reverse of yours, elec.

Nothing other than Hawkeye, Spider-Gwen, Ant-Man, and Secret Wars stood out for me. I didn't hear anything from DC other than some digital stuff today, so nothing excited me there. The X-Men stuff (which is surprisingly sad, because X-Men are my favorites) in particular didn't grab me. I was kinda hoping hoping for a new X-book to get announced or even X-Men NOW! to offset Avengers NOW! But nah, just a crossover I have no interest in and G. Willow Wilson on X-Men for four issues (although I will say it's about damn time they get a woman on the all-female title).

Yeah G. Willow Wilson on X-Men is good, both because Ms. Marvel is amazing and because a woman on te all female team book is just obvious, I think I'm not as excited for that because I'm already reading that so it's just 'hey that book I'm reading will be good.'
And yeah DC really didn't announce anything, probably what happens when they launch so many new series in october they don't have anything to announce for a while. That being said I am happy Wonder Woman is getting another comic, making four in total which is pretty good considering she'd only had one up to a year ago.
