Heavy on the dialogue and few errors. There were times when I managed to hear Anthony Hopkins voice in Odin's words and at others where I felt there was too much talking and not enough description of actions. I do love that he had a heart to heart with/about all three of his sons and you made Balder the most interesting character of the issue. However, the Loki section felt forced and could have merited from adding the description that Odin was drunk throughout it.
A nice start. And I'm happy to finally read something from you again after months of waiting. Only thing I noticed that you really need to work on is the repetition of words.

It was very good and great introduction to the characters and the plot of this title. What it is more, the announcement of this issue coming out is the very first tweet for this site's new Twitter account!

I liked it. It sets up an interesting way to get Thor to Earth. But, as watcher noted, parts felt forced and some dialogue was repeated.

Thor has a brief stop on Earth, but other then one issue his first two volumes are exclusively in the other realms or Asgard.

Maybe by the time he stops on Earth, he can take part of the Galactus event? *shrugs* It's possible.

Interesting start. Has a very Tales of Asgard kind of feel, much like the recent animated Thor feature rather than the Thor as champion of Midgard that we are used to seeing in classic and current Marvels, and that's not a bad thing. It's a way to develop Thor from the ground up rather than relying on assumptions a lot of people have about the character. Overall, it was a solid issue, uneven in parts. It was hard to tell the relative ages of some of the cast, Thor and Loki came across as adolescents or young adults, while Balder came across as a young boy, not quite a tween let along a teen. One nit to pick, Thor's speech after he spit out his food was missing an ending, not sure if the words were missing or you meant to have Odin interrupt him, and it wasn't clear from either context or punctuation what your intent was, which snapped me out of the narrative as a reader. There were a few other minor editing issues (using the wrong for of there at one point for instance) that were distracting, but not gamebreakers. One historical nit pick, I am not sure the Germanic or Scandanavian people who cultures birthed this mythos would have known what a turkey was as the bird was not native to northern Europe (or Europe at all), which just stood out to me as one who taught world cultures and myths for many years and was strange to see in Asgard. Of course it always bothered me when artists showed Volstagg with turkey legs in the comics too, but it was easier to pretend they were some other kind of fowl there without them being called turkey But overall, the issue was definitely not a turkey and I look forward to their magical mystery tour of the nine realms. -M

The issues with the ages was something that was hard to hash out due to the fact that they are gods. I thought about setting ages for the boys but decided to go rather with levels of maturity for each of the boys.
As I was writing I was think I should look into the turkey thing but decided against it.
As for editing I will definitely try to do better in the next issue.
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'm glad that you all enjoyed the issue.

Good first issue. I like the set-up of Thor not being the champion of the people and such and pretty much deserving to be taught a lesson, and Odins interaction with his children seemed natural and well done.

The people who spread the stories wouldn't have seen a turkey, but that doesn't mean the gods themselves wouldn't have seen one in canon. I see your point, but personally I don't believe it's an issue.

I enjoyed the issue overall. Any problems I had have already been mentioned so I'll just stick to the good, which is that I really want to start reading their adventures all over the realms right now and I'm glad that Midgard won't be getting favored over the others.

I think I agree with the above; particularly the Loki section. Could have telegraphed that Odin was drunk earlier - he just seems like a really unlikable old sod until the end. In fact, even then, he was just a bit harsh to Loki. People do tell their kids that they're adopted, although, they often don't do it when they're off their faces or in such a harsh manner. I never really understood why Loki couldn't be king of Asgard, if he was raised as such, then he should be able to be the King-Man.
I did really like Frigga pointing out that Odin very much like all three of his children. That was a nice touch. Over all, I just want to get to the hammer fighting part now!
