Ok, so I'm torn on what to in the first arc. Do I go through the lengthy origin story or do I change it up a bit and tell it in small flashbacks? That way I can jump in to the actual story and not drag out the origin.
FF's origin is pretty classic, hit by cosmic rays and whatnot but trying to come up with something original is kinda hard without drastically changing it and that's not the route I'm not sure I'd like to go. So I'm stuck in planning mode at the moment.

I say no origin, if you don't have anything new t add to the origin then it really would be best to just give it out in small doses in flashback, or even one small dose in flashback. Then again this is coming from a guy who is very anti-origin so I am biased.

I agree with elec. if you dont have any real big thing to say or change then just do it in flashbacks

I'm of a mind that actually, if you're doing a Fan-Fic series that is starting a universe from scratch, an origin, or at least reference to an origin, is needed. This is a new universe, so things need to be nailed down, like - When did the FF get hit by Cosmic rays? Was it in 1962, or was it in 2014? If it was 2014, why didn't they build in adequate shielding - people have been to the moon and back by now, why didn't Richards know better?
Its these sort of questions that need to be answered in the origin story - not how it happened, but why. We've moved on a little bit since Radioactive Spiders and the one issue Origin (sadly.) But Bendis, despite stretching a storyline that could be complete in half an issue for six, does a good job of making sure that questions are answered and more questions are asked.
Those are the sort of things you need to ask in your origin, not a how...but a why

I agree that unless it's very different from the typical origin, skip it. You can always show small flashbacks or have characters give exposition in a conversation about the little things that might be different.
