I ran into a problem while writing Thunderbolts: who should the Preezy of the United Steezy be in the ASU?
I think it should be Ellis from the MCU. Any objections?

I thought I we agreed on Stan Lee and Jack Kirby (Stan is President and Jack is VP)

Nope. That was preboot. We went through an "election" but never really came to a solution. What we did decide is it should be an original character and I accidentally made the President a 'he' in issue 1 of GotG. Other than that, no decision has been made.
Matthew Ellis is a little too "old" America for me. With the full intention of being a PC liberal "tool" or whatever you wanna call me, I propose we make our President African-American, Indian-American, Chinese-American, or any minority. As a straight white male, a straight white President is a bit too boring to me, especially in our completely fan-made, fantastical Universe.

Should our real-world President be President in the ASU?

It's generally agreed upon to make it a fictional character so there's no real life politics involved. And there's no issue with any threats to the president in story. Or even killing or vilifying him.

Bush appeared in a few Ultimates issues, and Obama had an appearance in Amazing Spider-Man.
Whatever. This decision just needs to made quickly so I can keep writing. Drake, I know you don't want a "traditional" fictional President, but I really think that's the way to go.

Honestly, it's not that big of a deal to me. Go with whatever.

Okay. Ellis it is. He's already in the MCU, which saves us the trouble of creating a new character.

We aren't comics. We're a fan fiction board. And the last thing we need is to have one person write Obama doing something that causes someone else to get mad and start political debates that lead to hurt feelings and more.
Politics is such a volatile subject that it's best to try and avoid offending anyone when all we want to do is write superhero stories.

^^^^ what Star said. As long as we can avoid pissing anyone off, I'm good with whatever.

His role in Thunderbolts isn't that vital anyway, so no one should get offended. I'm not big on politics. His political party will be ambiguous, too.
