I figured that with Marvel publishing Star Wars books again, we should have a thread here dedicated to all things Star Wars.
First discussion topic: is anyone else as sad as I am about Knights Of The Old Republic no longer being canon?

Ya, it got me into SW actually (raised ST). I still love it.

It was a hell of a game!
On a different note, I started reading Marvel's Star Wars book with SW #8. Damn, it's good.

I've thought about picking up the series because of Immonen, but I think for the time being I'm gonna buy the digital versions of the KOTOR comics before I start on the new Marvel stuff from Aaron and Gillen.

Canon is never something that's bothered me. If I like it, I like it regardless if it "counts." At the end of the day, none of it's real, but if it makes you feel real stuff, then it counts just as much as the next thing.
I haven't been reading the new Star Wars stuff. It looks good and all the writers are brilliant. Jason Aaron, Mark Waid, Keiron GIllen, Charles Soule. All of them are top notch, so I can only imagine how good they are on these books. The last Star Wars book I read was Brian Wood's last series that just ended to make way for these books. Set at the same time too. Since he's at Marvel, I kind a wish they just let him continue what he was doing there. Probably some legal reason that doesn't work...
Everyone excited for the movie?

As for Knights of the Old Republic, I have fond memories playing that game with my Elementary School best friend in his basement. Staying up way too late and drinking too much soda for our own good, getting stir crazy. I don't typically miss being a kid, but God, those were good times.

My issue with KOTOR not being canon is that it's like the quiet kid in the back of the class. All of a sudden, the other kids back there cause a huge ruckus and they all get detention. Even poor, little KOTOR, who wasn't bothering no one.
I'm not too big on Cassaday's artwork, so I'm thinking I'll just start with #9 if I do start reading Star Wars. I'm looking forward to seeing how Vader Down plays out though.

For that very reason, you can pretend it's in cannon, right? haha.

You're right, but I like having that confirmation. Maybe Disney will look at it and decide to put it back in the fold, it's an incredible story. I'd love to see more comics set in that time period.

Finally caught up on Star Wars Rebels. Damn, it's a great show! It starts out decent, but about halfway through the first season it becomes incredible! The characters are fun, the tone is very classic Star Wars, and there are enough cameos to keep things interesting without taking away the focus from the main characters.

I saw the first half of Rebels and enjoyed but it didn't grip me, good to know it gets better, if it comes on Netflix I'll check it out.
Clone Wars I've seen a whole bunch of episodes of and I've enjoyed most of them but I've never been able to watch them in any real order, it's on my list of Netflix shows to watch so I can see it in order though.

I kinda love that there's a whole season of Clone Wars that's just on Netflix. Like, the show ended (as in, reached the end point of the story) and they still had more, but I'm not sure what the point of that final season was.

Probably to resolve the massive cliffhanger at the end of season 5.

I love Clone Wars. I'm almost to the end of Season 4. I love how it doesn't aim to be a "kiddy" show. I love animated shows like that. And yes, I call it an animated show, not a cartoon. It's too good to be called a cartoon.

Animated shows are cartoons, and there's nothing wrong with the word cartoon, it's like calling all comic books 'graphic novels', it's like your ashamed to acknowledge what you are a fan of is a bit silly.

thetrueelec "Cartoon" just sounds kind of demeaning and condescending.

I think it can sound that way but only when said by some snob who views themselves as 'too good' for childish stuff.
