Alrighty, guys! I'm here with the final interview in our first wave of creator interviews. The man of the hour? The one, the only: randomfan!
1. What can we expect in Iron Man over the coming year?
Well my first arc is all about the Mandarin, both him and how Tony and the rest of the cast see him. It will also introduce us to most of Tony's social circle for this series. Arc two will see the introduction of the final member of Tony's social circle, as well as focusing on another character who's
motives I can't reveal here. These two arcs should take up most of the year. The third arc is something I can't really talk about, though the final scene
will be what all of Tony's adventures will have been leading towards.
Both arcs will be less focused on super hero battles than exploring the characters, heroes, villians, and everyone in between, exploring what makes them tick. Tony's social circle will be dealing with what it's like to have a friend who is putting their life on the line, Tony dealing with whether he's been
right in only giving himself one of the suits, and explaining what the antagonists will be dealing with would be spoilers. Of course this doesn't mean there won't be a lot of punch ups. Iron Man will be fighting a bunch of people in these arcs.
2. What drives Tony? Why is he Iron Man?
Regret. He spent a large part of his life making weapons, helping people kill others. This is also the main reason he won't let anyone else wear one of the
Iron Man armors: he doesn't want something he built to be used to do that again.
3. Does the world at large know Iron Man is Tony Stark?
Yes, Tony revealed he was Iron Man to the world very shortly after he donned the suit. He knew if he was going to be Iron Man full time he wouldn't be able
to run Stark international and so he announced it at a press conference, the same one he announced Pepper would be replacing him as head of Stark
International.
4. What twists have you spun on the Iron Man mythos and its characters?
Well the biggest twist will be revealed at the end of the third arc, though it will be built up over the three arcs. I doubt the scope of the twist will be figured out.
5. What inspired your take on the Iron Avenger?
Mostly a combination of the movies and the armored adventures series, at least for my takes on the characters.
6. Why did you take the title on?
A combination of my love for the character in both the movies and the armored adventures cartoon and an idea I had on where to take the characters,
which will be revealed at the end of the third arc. All I'll say about it is that it will be bult up throughout the three arcs and it's something I don't
believe has been done before.
7. Who is the Mandarin? What drives him?
The Mandarin is Gene Kahn. What drives him, well, that would be spoiling. I know that sounds like a cop out but the Mandarin and who he is plays a very big part in this first arc, as stated above. What his plans are, why he doesn't kill Tony, and why he's doing what he's doing, all of these questions are going to
be asked by the main characters, and so I can't spoil that here.
What I can reveal about Gene is that he knew not only Tony but Pepper and Rhodey before he became the Mandarin, and the opinoins they formed during that
time affect how they view him and this arc is going to involve all of them questioning those views.
8. Any chance we'll see another title out of you later?
Absolutely, I already have the idea for the title, however it spins out of what I have planned for the third arc of Iron Man so it won't be coming out for a
while. I will say that most of the main characters will be teens.
9. And just as we have done with every interview, we'll finish with this question: where do you see the site a year from now?
I'm going to be optimistic here and say I see it thriving, I see a bunch of new writers, the current writers all still here, Avengers going strong, even
another series crossing over characters.
As always, dear readers, feel free to tell us what you want asked and who you want interviewed next! And without further ado,
EXCELSIOR!
