I'm rewatching Avengers, and with the most recent movies in the MCU something specific's come to light.
Fury traps Loki in a cell meant to contain the Hulk. He tells Loki if he tries to escape or so much as scratches the glass on his cell, he'll be dropped in the steel cage to impact with the ground below. He then leaves Loki unguarded, because leaving guards capable of human error with Loki would just be a bad idea.
Later, Loki's henchman frees him, and with illusions he manages to trap Thor in the same cell. Thor slams the glass with his hammer and leaves a very large, noticeable crack. Yet the cell doesn't drop. Loki has to manually trigger it.
So the question is, if Loki did try to escape, who was going to stop him by pulling the trigger.
Back to when Fury was explaining how the cell works, to paraphrase "In other words... Ant... Boot..."
Conclusion / Head Canon: Nick Fury had a secret trump card, an invisible agent meant to watch over Loki and accomplish other things, unknown to even the other Avengers in case someone got mind-controlled or things went south. Someone not even Loki could account for:
Ant-Man.
Ant-Man WAS an original Avenger in the MCU, but worked in secret the entire time. He was present at Loki's cell in case Loki tried to escape, but had to leave when the Helicarrier came under attack to help the rest of the ship survive.

Okay, so before MOS even comes out the whole avengers crew (yes, all) go out of their way to remove innocents from the battle field, move back the population and direct them to subways and back streets. There is pulling people from trapped buses and taking hits for workers trapped in offices to they can get far enough away.
Buildings are hurt, but people have been removed. Buildings can be rebuilt. They save what's important.
MOS isn't even out yet and they're already punking it. Holy hell marvel.
