So, the next chapter has Stryker speaking to the Purifiers about the X-Men. He's pissed that they escaped, and is riling everyone up for an attack. Meanwhile, HATE has a discussion about what the Purifiers are doing. Deadpool, who has mutant DNA in him, was lightly affected by the Legacy Virus, and is puking it all out. When Dirk decided to betray the Purifers to help the X-Men, everyone agrees to go along with him except for Juggernaut, who hates his little bro. He peaces out and ditches the Purifiers.
Moira saving the X-Men from the Purifiers and her and Beast get to work on curing Psylocke of the Legacy Virus. While this is happening, Gambit and Kitty go for a walk. Gambit doesn't want Psylocke to die, he may have fallen out of love with her but there are still things to discuss, but he doesn't wanna discuss that stuff because it means a part of his life will end. Kitty helps him realize that it's okay to move on from stuff.
Kitty, who had her emotions warped by the Builders back to before she liked Cypher, likes Gambit once again and thinks she's slyly pushed Gambit closer to being her paramour. She has not.
Psylocke is cured and her and Gambit have a chat. They hash things out, it's all good. Before they leave, Cypher brings up "Woodrow" to Beast. Beast reveals that he is gay and only a few people (Gambit, Storm, Nightcrawler, and Xavier) knew about it. Woodrow is his boyfriend, who's job takes him very far from Beast and is very dangerous, which left Beast worried. But, he deals with that worry through working and that's why he's been so distant from Cypher since he became his apprentice.
The X-Men leave to hit the Purifiers where it hurts. Moira takes them back to Purifiers and a kick ass action sequence happens and Moira dies, but not before revealing to Beast that "Charles changed after she showed up."
Next chapter has the Acolytes kill Xavier (Cypher was the target) at a press conference and at the end of that chapter, somewhere far across the cosmos, a man awakes and says, "so I see you failed," to seemingly no one. Next chapter is the funeral, everyone shows up, including X-Factor and shit quickly hits the fan. Danger helps Magneto escape from his prison and it is revealed that Pietro and Wanda are his kids, as well as Polaris. Magneto makes his presence known to the world once more and SHIELD (not the characters from DoB's title, just SHIELD) is called in to solve the problem. Keeping Magneto prisoner like that is also super illegal, and since the X-Men as a whole seem complicit in that crime, they're on the shit list too.
The Acolytes use Manifold to teleport them to Shi'ar space and the X-Men seem boned. But then, Corsair shows up! And he reveals that he's not only Cyclops and Havok's dad, Gambit is also his oldest child. X-Factor to stick around the school until the X-Men return from space. He's also brought with him none other than, Woodrow McCord, who is also Beast's boyfriend
Next chapter reveals that Xavier is married to Lilandra, Cassandra Nova was controlling an Xavier clone as part of a plan to keep watch on Magneto while Charles became a space King, Cannonball and Smasher are members of the Shi'ar Royal Guard, and that Magneto wants to use a creation bomb from the Builders to make the whole Earth homo superior. At some point, Warlock shows up (you probably thought he'd never come up did you).
Upon reaching Shi'ar space, the X-Men finally meet the real Xavier. The team is shocked to see him alive, but he only recognizes Beast. He has no idea who any of the others are. Charles wanted Jean, Beast, Storm, and Nightcrawler to be the X-Men, not these randos. Him and Cassnadra argue over why she didn't stick to the script on that point.
The team fights Magneto and he is imprisoned by the Shi'ar. However, Lilandra is killed and since Xavier only married into the dynasty, he is no longer king. D'Ken is now King and his first decree is to banish all humans from Shi'ar space.
The X-Men return to Earth with much celebration. Woodrow offers Gambit and Manifold his old job and retires alongside Beast. Sunspot, Cannonball, Smasher, and Magma decide to do their own thing. Psylocke moves back to Britain. That leaves Hellion, Pixie, Kitty, Cypher, Warlock, and Polaris as the X-Men. As the celebration ends, Gambit and Manifold begin to leave. Everyone hugs them and tells them goodbye, except for Kitty. Kitty kisses Gambit and tells him to come home, but Gambit still doesn't reciprocate her feelings. He doesn't let that fact slip and instead, leaves with a smile.
At the end, Cassandra Nova narrates that even though the X-Men as we knew them is no more, there is still business left unfinished, and that they will return someday.
