I thought the MCU shippers wanted Clint/Natasha. When did that change?
The MCU fandom is weird.

Captain America 2. Not saying they're a majority though.

It didn't change so much as new shippers were added. There's still a lot of fans of Clint/Natasha.

Okay, I would've been surprised if Steve/Natasha became the majority. Meanwhile, no one loves Bruce/Natasha, I guess.

I would never have guessed they could be a thing but it didn't bother me.

I admit, I love the shipping debate on this thread. It's the kind of thing I wish I saw on more series discussion threads, not that reviews aren't appreciated and very helpful.
Next chapter's up. I imagine this chapter will likely earn some ire as being another chapter at the base with development between the characters. Not that I think anyone here has a problem with that, I just know people are craving some action and plot stuff soon. Well, this sets up some necessary plot stuff for later, and I can promise next chapter will have plenty of action and moving forward.

Once again, you've done fantastically. I enjoyed every bit of this chapter, even though it was another "character-development-at-the-base" chapter. There's no way you could've fit this in the previous chapter.
I loved Natasha and Carol's conversation. I like this iteration of Nat a lot more than the movies, because honestly, I find her a bit bland. Here she's a bit of a bitch and I love it. I love those kinds of characters. Are they bitches? Yes, their attitude meter is perpetually at full bitch. Do they get shit done? Stupid question, of course they do. I also said once before that I understood why Wanda, in the earlier issues of Cap's Kooky Quartet, had a crush on Cap (which writers have tried bringing back in different ways on multiple occaisions). Dude is fine. I get it, girl. I feel like Nat was basically saying those same things but in a more modern/bitchy manner.
Frank and Clint were hilarious and I loved how they managed to work Kamala over to their side. Side note: it's always those rich, lacrosse-playing fucks, isn't it? They're always the bad guys.

So, I pushed past my bias of slow-moving plots, and whatddya know? I really enjoyed this issue. I think the last scene was a large part of that.
Your FitzSimmons is similar to the show, but different enough that it's fresh. I like the development of moving to Camp Lehigh. Nat's more like the comics than the movies, which is probably a good idea from a writing standpoint--avoiding comparisons--and it's frankly more realistic than an ex-KGB assassin throwing quips left and right. Unlike jelly, I love Scarlett's take on Nat, but yours is great too. Carol's probably my favorite member of your cast so far, but that's also coming from a biased perspective. I guess Clint's a close second though.
The last scene was pure gold. First, Kamala, which makes everything better. Then, the reveal at the end was fun. Also, KK being a SHIELD Agent (of sorts)? Hell yes! I think one of my biggest problems with your story is it seemed like a fairly typical SHIELD vs. Hydra affair, but this is where you're finally branching off by bringing in these unique characters and developments.
8/10. Good stuff. Can't wait for next issue('s action)!

I'm glad people liked it. I was especially nervous about the scene between Carol and Natasha, because I didn't want to make either of them completely horrible.
I wasn't trying to either be close or distance myself to the movies. I don't have a problem with Johanssen's BW, but I guess I am sticking closer to the comics, or maybe Earth's Mightiest Heroes at least, for now. I think that might just be that the MCU Black Widow is a bit more established at this point.

I liked it. I only watched the first couple episodes of AoS so I don't know how close or not close you are with Fitz and Simmons but they were fun. I personally didn't like the Nat/Carol scene. It was such a cliche cat fight over a man scene. And I know cliches exist for a reason. Women do fight over men. But it just left a bad taste in my mouth.
I liked the setup on Kamala. I didn't see it coming. Even if your Clint is a little insufferable. Though he might be that way by design so that's okay. Keep em coming.

I wasn't a fan of the Natasha/Carol scene either. Honestly I thought both characters came off as rather petty throughout the whole exchange. Natasha in particular as the beginning of the scene seemed to be imply she was being antagonistic simply because she was bored. I'm not sure if that was your intent or not, but it was how I interpreted it.
On the other hand I enjoyed your take on the FitzSimmons dynamic, and your Coulson dialogue is so spot on I can practically hear Clark Gregg saying it in my head. I also like the way you're incorporating Kamala into the story, and I can't wait to see what is in store for her next.

New AoS chapter is up!
Nothing really of most of the agents. Just Cap and one other guy I'm sure you can guess from the title of the chapter. As I promised, lots of action this chapter.

So, this was one scene, which I will admit was disappointing, but damn! This was a fun issue! I had hesitation (and still do, honestly) about you claiming all these major character for AoS, but at least it's a hell of a lot of fun when they're used.
I will say that the timing is kind of awkward. Right when the main story was getting interesting, we get this side story with the Night Shift. I know you wanted this to coincide with Halloween, but it still feels a little awkward.
8.5/10 +Interesting mystery and set up +Really fun extended (almost Mad Max-like) fight scene +Blaze's characterization was well done
-Awkward timing for this story -Only one scene

I think it's great that we're getting back into some supernatural stuff. That's a hole that hasn't quite been filled since Dark City ended.
I liked that this was just one scene, but I think it could've used another character to bounce things off of, not just Steve and Johnny.

Okay, a few things of note with this chapter:
- I've edited the end of the previous chapter. I'm not going into a Night Shift arc yet with Agents of SHIELD. The Ghost Rider chapter was absolutely a blast to write, but the rest of it would end up being square pegs in round holes. The rest of the Night Shift will make their appearance, just not right away and probably not in this title. - I'm going to go in a different direction to try and speed things up, so after rearranging the plot points a bit, I needed something to fill the transition. - I started working on this chapter on December 25th, hence the Christmas theme. I got it finished about midway last month. I wanted to get Fantastic Four updated at the same time, but there have been a few extra scenes necessary that I wasn't expecting in the original outline, so it's taking a little longer than usual. I'd give a scheduled release date, but those tend to jinx my titles.
Anyway, this will lead into either the last or second to last arc for my run on this title. Part of my problem with writing this title was not being able to see the finish line, and now that that's visible this title is starting to look feasible again.
The storyline of Cap's team and members will continue after said arcs and I'm already talking with the other writer on how best to handle that.

So, you really like using the word "look." Every scene had one or two "look, *insert dialogue here*s. On a similar note, the dialogue was clunkier than usual. Very exposition-heavy for the first half, and still a bit awkward at times after that.
Just some random notes: -Nat blushing at the comment of her and Steve being a couple was very un-Nat-like. If anything, it seems like something Steve might do. At the very least, if she does want to pursue a relationship with him, you'd think she'd be more forthright and be able to feign any embarrassment. I'll admit, these are my opinions, but I'm a huge Widow fan. It just didn't seem like her, and I know it's a little thing, but "little things" make characters. I think you know that as well as I do. -The Coulson trading card "cameo" (for lack of a better word) was fun. -Your FitzSimmons dialogue is great BTW. Totally in character and reads just like the actors. -This is a great issue. I wasn't sure a character development issue would sit well with me considering the pacing of this story, but it works. -The scene with the clerk was very cute and very Steve Rogers. -Ooh, Kamala's powers are kicking into gear!
I enjoyed the issue. Nothing mindblowing, but the character-heavy second half was much better than the exposition-y first.

- Having a Christmas story in February is not really any worse than all the holiday themed movies that have been coming out in early November in recent years.
- This issue reminded me a lot of the Justice League episode "Comfort and Joy" in that it used the Christmas theme to do some quieter character moments, and I really enjoyed that aspect of the story.
- I do have to agree with Drake about Natasha blushing. I feel as though it would have been more in character if she had mentioned the couple comment, and Steve ended up blushing as a result.
- I appreciate the effort in trying to juggle such a large cast of characters and give them something close to equal story time. It's not an easy thing to do without losing a ton of plot momentum, but you're managing quite nicely.
- That being said the pacing in the last few issues has been a little slow. It's not detracting from the story overall at this time, but it may start to if things don't pick up soon.
- An entertaining read overall, and I look forward to the next installment. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the reviews.
The only thing I want to point out is that Natasha's blushing may not be as out of character as you might think, depending on whether she's doing so on purpose to suit her situation.
Hopefully the next chapter won't be too much longer.

- Pleasantly surprised to see another issue released so soon.
- This felt a bit on the short side, but I think the length worked out well for the story being told. The pacing was suitably brisk, and there was a very nice flow to the dialogue during the interrogation scene.
- Clint is an ass, and I mean that in the best way possible. Any other character and I might have said their attitude drained a bit of tension from the scene, but that was pitch perfect for him. Though he probably should have been affected more by a knee to the groin that landed with enough force to lift the chair. At least more so than some wheezing and then right back to banter.
- Fitz and Simmons are the best.
- Definitely looking forward to more of an action heavy issue after that setup at the end.
All in all I'd say this was a very fun read that left the door open for an incredibly exciting follow up. Can't wait for the next issue.

Totally nitpicky, but Grim Reaper's dialogue went back and forth between well spoken/educated and casual/everyday. At times he spoke like your Average Joe. Just a short while later, however, he'd speak like a Silver Age villain. Nefaria was at least consistent in this regard. He's a little too exaggerated for my mafioso tastes, but he's a supervillain, so I'm okay with camping him up a bit. Grim Reaper's the same, but you need to be consistent. On a pseudo-similar note, 'you know who' seemed forced, as it's clear you're only using that to keep the identity of the head bad guy a secret.
Dialogue should be its own separate paragraph. Sticking it in the midst of one is not only grammatically incorrect, but awkward to read.
Warpath is right. Hawkeye's great!
The FitzSimmons lines were funny, but almost too comical. I think I'm just more used to the grounded take on their characters in the TV show.
Seriously though, Hawkeye is great. While the ending line is a bit cliche, it works. I mean, it's cliche for a reason. Well done and keep it (and Clint) coming!
^^^ Was that sexual? It sounded kinda sexual. XD

This was a good issue. I thoroughly enjoy the development of the Maggia and the growing threat of Nefaria. The ending was a standout moment as well, very reminiscent of a comic book. I'm curious to see what sort of powers Nefaria has, because he's beating The Hood pretty handily.
The critiques... -The pace continues to be a bit too slow for my liking. You spend a lot of time on descriptions, which is good, but this only really felt like one big scene. Last issue was an improvement, but you're back to old habits with this one. I think the pacing might work out in the long run for anyone who reads this in one sitting, but for a monthly title it can be grating. -Nitpick, but SHIELD utilizing non-practical uniforms like Taskmaster's cape and skull mask bugs me. Totally a nitpick, and it doesn't bother me that much, but I felt like I should mention it. Maybe it's because you've stressed SHIELD as a spy agency, but something about it rubs me the wrong way.
That's really it. Not a huge amount happened, so I couldn't love the issue, but there's not a lot to critique either. Honestly, both of the above are probably subjective, so that means overall your work is great. Still, the pace is slow enough that there was no way this issue could blow me away, despite how well written it may be.
8.2/10
