... ... ... Why did I have to drop Deadpool? Just got back from seeing it and it is truly the DP movie a DP fan could want. Consistently funny, amazing action, best Stan Lee cameo ("You can't buy love, but you can rent it for three minutes!"), perfect representation of the character... Colossus was great, probably the best character in the movie aside from Deadpool himself. The cursing was suprisingly natural for the most part, and there were times when the cursing molded into the humor. (*Fires and misses* F***! *Fires and misses again* S***! *Fires and misses yet again* F***s***!) Why did I ever doubt this movie? thejellyfish You, sir, have claimed a gem for AXM. Please... Please make it shine brightly. MAKE IT SHINE!

Well, unfortunately he's only in this one arc and it's almost over, so...
But, the good news is that we've made progress on getting AXM finished, which I was getting worried about.

I don't wanna announce it yet, I'd rather wait until we're closer to chapter thirteen coming out.

I love the suit. It looks like the classic 60s suit with a little Superior Spider-Man mixed in. I honestly thought that Spidey wouldn't be in any promotional material at all. I guess Marvel and Sony worked out their issues. Iron Man looked like a badass the entire trailer, and I loved Cap's little throwback to the first movie. And Ant-Man riding Hawkeye's arrow looked frickin' insane. I still think Black Panther is gonna be the best part of the movie, and I can't wait to see him fight Bucky.

With Gunn claiming Tom Holland is to Spider-Man as "Downey is to Iron Man, Ledger to Joker, and Pratt to Star-Lord" I guess he'll actually have a bigger role than we imagined. You wouldn't say that for a role the size of Quicksilver's.

That is extremely high praise. Comparing his acting to Ledger's? Holy moly...

I haven't and from everything I've heard about it I'm better off for it.

I have and I thought it was okay. I thought it was better than Man of Steel, but it still wasn't as good as it could've been. There was just too much plot in the first hour and forty-five minutes.

What Sonny said is pretty much how I feel. I found it to be very mediocre. All flash (no pun intended) and no substance. Maybe that's just me (although judging by the critics it isn't). From a storytelling perspective, it was also too dark. Movies can be dark, sure, but you lose the humanity of the characters if there's no humor, no lightness. There must be balance. If it's too funny, it's a comedy. If it's too dark, it's not even a tragedy. It's just boring. For that reason, Alfred was my favorite part, because he was kinda funny (but was in far too few scenes to make a difference).
Affleck's a great Batman, but he was written poorly. Cavill could be a great Superman, but he's written very mediocrely. Gal Gadot was incredible as WW, but any WW that gives up on humanity is one that's directed by people who clearly don't understand the characters. Luthor was annoying as hell, Lois too. Perry was pretty cool.
The action's brilliant. I like that they had the balls to follow a certain storyline, even if it's a bit too early to do that (because JL is coming, it has fairly little impact). The cameos were shoehornes in, the editing was choppy, the story was overstuffed, but, well, if you just turned off your brain for a 2 1/2 hours it was a decent experience. Better than Transformers or the F4 movies, but certainly not good.
And please, please no one say it was "adult." Or "deep." Asking interesting questions is not the same as developing a theme. Or themes. Themes are what matter in stories.

To put it simply, I liked it as much as I liked Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Perry's writing was 3,000% better than it was in MoS. I wouldn't even say that they're the same character. I have a theory that the Perry in MoS was a Bizarro-like clone of the Perry in BvS.

Guys, when you have a few minutes, please watch this video. It perfectly sums up everything wrong with BvS. It's really insightful.
Plus there's a flawless Zack Snyder impersonator.

We did. They sugar coated it at the end but it got to the point. These characters actually mean something - if Snyder will not understand that things will just keep getting worse. Snyder fans will always like them, but if they want marvel levels of success that will never be enough.
Though my favorite part was wonder woman just walking by and saying "hello!" every so often.

So, I really loved Civil War, but I feel like a lot of the character motivation was forced when fighting between Cap and Iron Man.

The only character I thought had forced motivations was Hawkeye.

I just think two grown adults like Cap and Iron Man would learn how to work things out responsibly and talk through it. I also feel like in the situation at the end of the scene, Stark was just being a big baby. Yeah, Winter Soldier killed his parents, twenty years ago and that hasn't been like Batman levels of motivation to find his parents killer. I just thought it was week motivation.

What's odd is that this is Phase III and we're just now learning about Iron Man's parents' death. But, Iron Man had every right to be mad at Cap.
During their fight, I seriously thought Cap was gonna kill Tony. Iron Man was completely at his mercy. It's clear who the winner was in this movie.

Yeah, Winter Soldier killed his parents, twenty years ago and that hasn't been like Batman levels of motivation to find his parents killer. I just thought it was week motivation. If we're talking about the moral dilemma of the Accords, then there wasn't much of an opportunity to talk through it. Steve had to make a split second decision to help Bucky, or to let him be captured. Naturally, as has been proven in the past, he ignored others and tried to save Bucky. He became a criminal, unable to talk to anyone on the "other side" because they were caught in their ways and driven by their own motivations. As for Tony's freak out at the end, well, he's never been shown to be much of an adult. He's very emotional, and he never had the chance to reconcile his father's death. That's a major plot point of Iron Man 2, and it's brought back up in Civil War. He feels guilty, and takes his anger at himself out on the man who killed his parents. Couple that with the fact that one of his best friends didn't tell him the truth. Honestly think about how you'd react if you heard someone murdered your parents, kept you from ever reconciling with your father, and one of your best friends lied about the whole thing to you for years. But to each their own, I suppose. I just struggle to see how Cap and Tony's motivations of all the characters was forced. The previous movies set them up for this. @sonny Daye Tony's parents deaths have been touched on in Iron Man 2 and Winter Soldier. Tony's whole character arc in IM2 is tied to his father. In Winter Solider, it's very heavily implied that Bucky killed Tony's parents.

My @ name is still IronGuy, lol. I have no idea if admins can change it to sonny_daye or something like that.
I'll have to rewatch IM2 when I get the time. I watched Winter Soldier at least three times last week, but I never caught anything like that.
But I agree with you on everything, Drizzy.

It's the scene where Zola reveals Hydra has infiltrated SHIELD. Watch it again, and look for dialogue that matches up with a newspaper headline of Howard Stark's death, and an image of the Winter Solider. Zola implies Bucky killed Howard.
